  1. Some of you might be looking for a gift to celebrate a birth or for a pregnant friend or relative. You are looking for an eco gift, maybe some organic and fair trade children clothes, organic skincare, eco-friendly toys or a new mum hamper.

As you can see, you found the right place. All our products have been very carefully selected so they have the minimum impact on our planet and will last for many years (better for your purse and landfills).

But you have also found our NapNap Voucher and if you are not currently using cloth nappies, you might be wondering if giving a nappy as a present is such a good idea. The NapNap Voucher has been specifically designed to help parents discover washable nappies so yes, it is a fantastic useful gift, worth many time its value and will be very well received. Here is why:

    • Cloth nappies have changed a lot in the last few years: they are fashionable and easy to use. Check them out here.
    • Giving a NapNap Gift Voucher allows parents to choose the cloth nappy of their choice. They can choose them online from more than 20 retailers.
    • Even if they choose a couple of cloth nappies with your voucher, then do not buy anymore (which we doubt they would), they will still use those nappies and save money on disposables.
    • If they do not use the NapNap Gift Voucher (again more doubts...), then guess what? we are so sure of our product that we would give you back your credit (minus £1.50) to use at Really Eco Baby. And don't worry, we do not only stock green baby gifts. Get yourself something really useful like recycled sponges or recycled glasses or treat yourself to Weleda skin food, Akamuti organic coconut oil or organic teas

So when you choose an eco gift for a new arrival, baby shower, baby christening or simply to put a smile on your pregnant friend's face, we dare you to be original and add a NapNap Voucher. Then let us know how it was received.

  2. If you keep an eye on the NapNap website, you will see that we now offer a 'Nappuccino to You' service. This means you gather together a few friends and we come to you with washable nappies to look at and talk about. We also bring you a range of the eco friendly goodies that we sell here at Really Eco Baby. If that doesn't sound exciting enough, we also throw in a £15 NapNap Voucher for free!

Now of course, you may not need the NapNap Voucher yourself. Your children may be potty-trained, you might also be a grandparent or grandparent in waiting. But you might be really keen to show some of your friends how great cloth nappies are.

Personally, I would have loved something like this for a Baby Shower (although I am obviously a bit biased!). Nappies to look at, eco friendly presents and essentials to choose from, free money for nappies.... What more could you want? Oh, did I mention the games we can play too? Cloth Nappy Games??? That's right. You'll never look back!

So if you are in North Herts and fancy a green baby shower, baby party, nappy party.... whatever you want to call it! - look no further.

  3. We have just returned from holiday and the kids had to spend many hours in the car. So how to keep them busy? I quickly packed a couple of paper pads and colouring books hoping it would distract them for more than 5 min. Well, you might be surprised to discover that they spent many hours concentrating over their drawings.

    crayons

I realised I had made the right choice when I bought a box of Stockmar Crayons. The colours are really bright and they stick to the paper. I don't think the children would have been happy (and us neither once they would have been bored and whinging) with a cheap box of crayons where you can hardly see the colours. Even with a pad balancing on their  knee, they made some great work of art.

The box was also very handy to put them away without them rolling around the car.

So yes at £9, they are not the cheapest box of crayons but they do last and the beeswax used does not contain any nasties. As they come with a nice handmade handbook, this makes a very nice present for toddlers and older children and will definitely become the favourite set of your children.

  4. The elderflowers at the end of the garden are finally sending out their May (ha ha) perfume and thank goodness they are bit late this year. With a 2 month old on top of the other tiddlers, things tend to slide! However, I am rolling my sleeves up and getting ready to make some this weekend. If you are interested in making your own, the two recipes I would recommend are:

Ashridge Nurseries recipe: this is for serious makers who want to make quite a big batch and preserve the cordial properly. It has worked a treat for me in the past and, because of the inclusion of Campden Tablets, lasts up to 2 years.

Peapod magazine (Page 30): a simple recipe, great for first timers. (And a lovely little magazine too.)

Having recently treated myself to a set of the lovely coloured glasses  made from recycled glass that we sell (perks of the job) I am lookng forward to tasting the fruits of my labours. Our garden is humming with life at the moment and sipping elderflower cordial amongst the cabbages really is one of life's small pleasures. Cheers.
